Our most frequently requested destination, and for good reason. Tuscany is a wonderful region for cycling - in fact it's simply a wonderful region, full stop.
Welcome to a world of rolling hills, vineyards and amazing wine and gastronomy... home to famous races such as the famous Strade Bianchi and Giro d'Italia.
This trip is all about exploring the best roads the region has to offer; from our base in Lucca, through Tuscany, to the heights of the Apennines in the distance.
Thursday 20th June - Day 1: Arrival Day
After arriving at Pisa Airport, you will be met by one of our guides in the arrivals hall. Lucca is a short 1 hour transfer away. Here you will be reunited with your bike that will have been driven down for you.
A couple of hours for a nice lunch, time to settle in and fettle your bike and then we will test the legs with a local ride out through the vineyards.
Friday 21st June - Day 2: Queen Stage
Today we ride to the Apennine mountains to the home of San Pellegrino water. This ride is essentially split into two. Before lunch you are working hard to make it up to the hills, yet after lunch you are rewarded with a glorious route downhill back through the vineyards.
Dinner in Lucca old town and time to relax with a beer in the evening.
Saturday 22nd June - Day 3
Today we ride through the heart of Tuscany, enjoying some amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea. The small roads are idyllic and there is even an optional splash of gravel roads and time for some wine tasting on the way home.
Sunday 23rd June - Day 4: Warm Down and Departure
Time for one last local ride to take in the best views in the area. Pieve Santo Stefano, Arsina, and Aquilea are roads that you think the Gods made for riding. There is just time for one last quick lunch, before your transfer to the airport.
(nb: itinerary subject to change depending on weather and other safety factors)
The group will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 people. We feel that this size of group works best as there will always be enough in the group for some good company but there won't be so many people that it becomes overcrowded.
Accommodation is in a clean and comfortable 4-star bike friendly hotel. For this trip we use the Albergo Celide based in Lucca.
Based on the city walls this modern hotel is just a few steps from the old town of Lucca and has a Sauna and bar on-site.
All your breakfasts, lunches, coffee stops and dinners are included in the price of the trip. Lunches will be provided each day in a cafe or will be picnic lunches provided by the guides when the weather is good.
Evening meals are provided at your accommodation or in a nearby restaurant. We also supply fruit, biscuits, cake, nuts, etc in the support vehicle that you are welcome to have throughout the day as well as sports nutrition if required.
Water and soft drinks will be in the support vehicle but any alcoholic drinks are not included and will have to be purchased individually.
Each one of our Guided Road Cycling tours is supported by at least 1 qualified bike mechanic as well as 2 professional cycling guides to ride near the front and at the back of the group. The mechanic will drive the support vehicle that will be on hand throughout the day.
