Custom Paint - The Process
We absolutely love working with clients on custom paint projects. Despite the incredible options and recent advancements in stock paint options from big bike brands, if you're looking for something that little bit more personal and unique, custom paint can elevate your bike purchase and ownership.
A new bike isn't just a machine… it's a dream realised. Every rider envisions their perfect bike, and we can make that dream a reality.
We have custom paint contacts all over the world, and will always defer to the clients preference for which artist they would like to complete their paint design. But our go-to option for nearly a decade now have been Chichester based Ali and Bex, better known as Fat Creations.
Given the incredible work that Ali and Bex complete, and what we believe is an incredibly thorough and fun process, we're shining a spotlight on the custom paint process at Bespoke Cycling with Fat Creations.
The Beginning
First, we need a bike. Our new bike buying process is totally unique in the industry, with you, the client, as the focus. As such, if the stock paint options just don't do it for you, we can introduce you to the world of custom paint.
Perhaps you have a really specific brief in mind. You want to provide colour codes, references materials and can really envisage your dream bike design.
Or, perhaps you just like blue...
We'll listen to your provisional brief and introduce you to Fat Creations who can give their professional feedback on your ideas and colour combinations.
One of the many benefits of us at Bespoke Cycling facilitating your custom paint is we have access to a VIP lane with Fat Creations and will ensure you "skip the queue" - no 3 month lead times, everything is completely efficiently and smoothly.
While this process is starting our team is busy in the background, stripping the bike down to it's core carbon frame and securely packaging ready to be sent to the painter. We handle ALL the logistics, it's up to you to have the dream.
Seeing your bike come to life
We are always keen that our clients are involved in their own bike project, and give them an insight into the process that the cycling industry has typically neglected to offer.
This involves consistent communication via email, Whatsapp, phone and in person - we keep you updated when parts are arriving, share your own personal bike photo gallery so you can follow the build progress each day , and in this case, experiance the custom paint process.
Conversation is key - we'll connect you directly with the painter to ensure your design brief is relayed and understood accurately. Plus usually we bounce around some more ideas and the painter gives their feedback on what will work and look the best.
See the colours - check photos and videos of the paint colours in different lights, allowing you to compare options and make an informed decision. If you have some colour inspiration - now is when we want to see it! We've colour-matched everything from cars to the beloved family dog...
Experiance the process - see your frame going through the many, many hours of labour involved in custom painting a frame. From stripping the frame back to naked carbon (an incredible skill in itself), to individual logos being painted by hand - now's the time to get excited.
Get excited...the final handover
This is it. Your ideas, our diligent process and the craftsmanship of Fat Creations. Your new bike.
Collect at our London studio in a grand unveiling. Seeing the bike in person and getting to ride away...that should be a special experience. Our studio setup means you get a professional and personal handover when collecting your new bike, and our team are ready to solely focus on you to make this process incredibly special and exciting.
